At 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, it isn’t just about diverting waste from the landfill and helping people regain their space (although we love doing those things) – we also love to give back to the community and provide opportunities for people to learn ‘Business 101’ out on our trucks.
Our Pittsburgh team recently signed up to participate in the U.S. Army Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program. The program allows future and current soldiers the opportunity to interview and be employed by 1-800-GOT-JUNK? in order to gain invaluable work experience before and/or after serving their country.
On Tuesday, May 12, the crew from Pittsburgh took to their trucks and visited a local U.S. Army base to meet with U.S. Army representatives and take part in a “Signing Ceremony” to officially join the program. Following an introductory speech by General Manager, Jeremy Stark from 1-800-GOT-JUNK? in Pittsburgh, Army Representative Captain Jon Schwarz also shared some warm words, welcoming 1-800-GOT-JUNK? into the program and sharing why it’s such a vital program. A plaque was also exchanged in celebration of the partnership.
Moving forward, the partnership will involve 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Pittsburgh providing both future soldiers and veterans with the ability to work in a great position within the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? team that will help them gain valuable skills in sales, marketing, logistics, operations, time management, and route management. At the same time, the position will also provide them with gainful employment to make their transition into civilian life easy and seamless.
Congratulations, Pittsburgh! We look forward to welcoming some amazing new team members to the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? family.
