Mom’s the Word (Part 1)

Cleaning your mom’s house is the best Mother’s Day gift ever! How can you treat the female influence in your life and say thank you for all that she does? Whether it’s your own mother, mother-in-law, step-mother, the mother of your children or even your grandmother, the gift options can be endless. This year, why not try something a different, and give her a gift that will keep on giving?

According to a recent survey from OmniBus Scotch-Brite, 75% of moms would prefer a clean home on Mother’s Day to being served breakfast in bed.  In addition, 60% of moms would prefer a clean house over other gift options like candy, flowers and a card.

Your mom will appreciate ‘the gift of clean’ for countless reasons. Wait until she’s jumping up and down with excitement! Here are our top five reasons why this is a great gift for her:

It will give her free time for herself

Your mom’s time is precious and she may not often get to make time for herself. Your gift will give her the perfect excuse to kick up her feet and enjoy reading time, personal project time, exercise time, and just being able to take the time to relax.

It will show her your love and appreciation

Cleaning the house will show Mom that you appreciate what she does around the house on a daily or weekly basis, especially if she’s usually the one doing the cleaning. If you really want to impress her, go the extra mile during your cleaning spree by tackling the chores she doesn’t normally have time for.  This may be washing the widows, wiping down and dusting the baseboards, light switches, cupboards and drapes. Surprise mom by cleaning behind the big ticket items within the house, such as appliances and furniture.

It will give your family time to bond

A thorough house cleaning is the perfect project to work on together as a family. Did you know that cleaning and working together as a team will help your children build character, give them a sense of pride, and promote good work habits? Get the kids together the day before or the morning of Mother’s Day and make this into a fun family project. You can reconnect, tell stories, play games and much more!

At the end of the day, your mom just wants to be reminded how much you love and appreciate her. If you are starting to feel a little overwhelmed, just remember that no matter what you choose to give her, it truly is the thought that counts! Stay tuned for Mom’s the Word (Part 2) tomorrow.
