Wooden shelf display

Are you looking for more shelving in your den, bathroom or study? This DIY project is the perfect solution for added storage in your home, and it will also allow you to show off your family photos, keepsakes or favorite mementos.

Materials needed:

  • Wood box or wooden chest
  • Spare pieces of wood for shelving (if needed)
  • Spray paint
  • Frame

Directions:

Step 1: Remove the back of an old wooden box or the top of a wooden chest.

Step 2: Separate the pieces of wood you removed and place them inside to make shelves that fit inside the box.

Step 3: For extra charm, fasten a frame from an old piece of art onto the front of the unit.

Step 4: Paint the box or, for a more authentic look, leave the box as-is.

This project will allow you to transform a vintage mirror into a sophisticated message center that you and your entire family can enjoy. Not only is this a great décor piece for your kitchen or office, but it’s also useful! Feel free to leave messages for one another, hang photos, or attach important notes by using the board’s magnetic power.

Materials needed:

  • Painters tape
  • Antique mirror
  • Magnetic spray paint
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Paint

Directions:

Step 1: Cover the frame of the mirror by using painters tape.

Step 2: Spray a coat of magnetic spray paint onto the mirror. Let dry. Apply as many coats as necessary, until magnets successfully stick to the board.

Step 3: Apply a layer of chalkboard paint and let dry.

Step 4: Hand paint the frame.

Are you constantly wondering what to do with the empty mason jars in your garage or cupboards? Quirky and fun, this project is perfect for kids and they are bound to get a kick out of it!

Materials needed:

  • Mason jar
  • Blue food coloring
  • Glitter
  • Water
  • Glue gun
  • Small plastic toy

Step 1: Twist off the lid of the mason jar and remove the circular plastic piece inside the lid.

Step 2: Use a hot glue gun and adhere the plastic toy to the mason jar lid. Let it dry.

Step 3: Fill the mason jar with water, and then add a drop of blue food coloring and glitter.

Step 4: Replace lid tightly and shake gently.

Step 5: Turn the jar upside down and watch the glitter fall.
