Take Our Mother’s Day Mother Metaphors Challenge

After all these years in the industry of stuff, items and belongings, we’ve realized that items can hold significance far past their physicality.

This Sunday marks Mother’s Day in North America. In order to commemorate your Mother, whether related by blood or by heart, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? challenges you to choose a belonging that best represents her. This could be an item that holds memories of your Mother or it could simply be an item that evokes the same emotions as she does.  The team that brings you this blog challenged themselves; the results are touching…and our Moms are already blushing!

The 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Mother Metaphors Challenge: On Facebook, post an image of an item that represents or reminds you of your Mother (if she has Facebook, don’t forget to tag her). Copy and paste this description as the photo caption along with your reasons why:

Natalie's Mother, Joan

My Mother, Joannie is a Teapot. She is warm, timeless and traditional. My Mother always provides a warm welcome; she’s inclusive. A strong, bold and refreshing part of my life; knowing I have her warms my heart. (Natalie Burgwin)

windchimes

My Mother, Leslie, is a windchime because she is lovely and musical, she resonates with people when they meet her, and she brings joy to many lives. (Samantha Landa)

shears

My Mom, Sally, is a pair of garden shears. She uncovered my strengths and shaped me into who I am today. She continues to help me shed what I don’t need. She’s also a fantastic gardener! (Andrew Sutherland)

HC

My mom is a cup of hot chocolate. Sweet, warm, soothing and fun. She always makes me feel better when I’m down. No matter my age, it always does the trick. (AK Virani)

DreamCatcher

My Mother, Jenny, is a Dream Catcher. She is a visionary and a dreamer. My Mother provides the circle of encouragement upon which her people can attach their sacred hopes and wishes. (Tania Venn)

If you’d like to participate in our Mother Metaphor Challenge this week to recognize your Mother for Mother’s Day, simply post a photo of the item you choose on Facebook and caption it with the purple text (below)…add your reasoning afterwards. You could also comment below with your chosen metaphor, or share it to 1-800-GOT-JUNK?’s Facebook page with all the others!
