Holiday Junk – Let it go! Let it go! Let it go!

The American Thanksgiving is just around the corner and with Halloween all but behind us, the shops are now stocked with Christmas items! You know, the holidays are typically a time of excess. Sometimes that’s a good thing. We all love a holiday buffet with our favorite, delicious foods and drinks. We enjoy sharing, giving, and exchanging gifts. And we rejoice in entertaining our friends, family, and co-workers. The sort of excess you don’t want over the holidays is junk cluttering your living space before everyone come to visit, or after it’s all over. It turns out the holidays are actually an ideal time to get the junk cleared away.

Let’s face it. We all have junk. An attic full of dusty, old clothes and forgotten knickknacks… a basement crammed with boxes you intended to sort through one day…a garage that’s turned into your traveling grandchild’s storage area?  How about a closet full of paper memories?  But if your junk has spilled over into the spare room, for the holiday season, that can pose a problem.

With family coming to visit and friends dropping by for festive treats, not to mention all the entertaining we do around this time of year, it’s such a relief, as well as safe, to have a clutter-free home. Of course once the family and friends have gone, you’ll  be left with a mound of packaging to dispose of and new goodies to store away somewhere – but let’s hope you use all of those gifts instead of allowing them onto the junk pile!

Actually, between Thanksgiving and New Year’s North Americans probably dispose of more waste than at any other time of the year! For tips and suggestions on how to reduce waste during the holiday season, check out the Environment Protection Agency site here

So consider getting down to work clearing away the junk so you can entertain with ease this holiday season, or you can always call the professionals at 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and have them take care of the heavy lifting (and recycling!) for you.
