Ah, it’s December 1st, 2010. It seems strangely clean in the office this morning without all the facial hair that was looming over us for the past 30 days.
All our men utilized their free Schick Hydro Razors and did their first clean shave this morning.
Though the facial hair is gone, the impression from Movember 2010 on the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? team will not go down the drain. The Junktion and over 100 participating franchises (in three different countries) worked hard to increase the dialogue around men’s health, raise awareness for prostate cancer and solicit donations. The campaign pulled our system together as a team. We all reached for a common goal – to better the future of men’s health. Despite the moans and groans of our mustache bearers (and their loving partners), each Mo Bro walked with confidence knowing that his ‘hairy ribbon’ meant something on a global scale.
I send my accolades to Adam Garone, CEO of Movember, as well as the whole international Movember team for not just identifying the need for this campaign but for creating such a fun charity movement. Our junk men and women carried out the campaign with laughter, which is definitely the best motivator.
The audacious goal 1-800-GOT-JUNK? set for this year was to be the largest company-wide Movember team ever. We are extremely proud to announce that officially, our member numbers surpassed those of other corporate teams such as Google, Amazon and Pepsi Co. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is host to the largest company-wide Movember team!
The donation page will be active for another week so if you wish to donate, please click here. But we are calling it as it is: An extremely successful maiden voyage with Movember!
The numbers, as they stand for the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Network on December 1st are:
- $13,659.00 (CDN) Dollars raised
- 470 members
On behalf of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, I’d like to extend my gratitude to all the people who donated to our Network, the funds raised will be well utilized by Prostate Cancer Canada, LIVESTRONG (USA), Beyond Blue and Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
I can’t wait – there’s only 11 months to go until we can start Movember 2011!
Check out our silly wrap-up video we threw together for the Junktion, complete with bloopers!
