Truck Team Tuesday – From Alaska

Ben (left) and Eric (right)

This week we look up North for the experiences from our Anchorage, Alaska franchise.  Ben and Eric, our Featured Truck Team this Tuesday, have shared many experiences together.  In case you were wondering the same thing I was; no, our Alaska franchise isn’t open for 24 hours during the summer just because the sun does not set!

Name(s) and Franchise Location:

Ben Galliher and Eric Hansen

Anchorage NW (Anchorage, Alaska)

How long have you been working with 1-800-GOT-JUNK?

Ben: 2 and a half years

Eric: 6 months

What did you do before you found Junk?

Ben:  I worked in construction

Eric: I’ve always been in customer service

What do you love about being a Truck Team Member?

We enjoy how fun the job is, there’s never a dull moment. Even if some jobs are difficult, we’re always getting to meet new people and being in different places.

What is the most challenging thing about being a Truck Team Member?

Working in the winter when it’s below zero is always tough.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever hauled away?

Not the weirdest thing, but Ben received a free 1974 GMC Motorhome from a job, since the couple was leaving state and did not have time to sell it!

What’s the grossest thing you’ve ever had to do?

Fridges that leave the back of the truck smelling horrible for a week after they are gone.  Oh, and a crawl space that was flooded that still had standing water. Everything was soaked, with some of the items growing new stuff.

Did you do it with a smile?

We always do, but you couldn’t see them that time because luckily we had to have masks on over them.

Do you have any other funny memories or stories that you can share?

This one lady we did a job for made us “dinner” which was handing us a bunch of frozen sealed bags from her freezer that were freezer burned. She told us to throw it all in oven, I think she meant the trash can. Also, we like filling this out and reminiscing on the great times we have had with 1-800-GOT-JUNK?.

Do you have a motto or a philosophy on life?

Nothing specific. We just try to work our hardest for our customers, and we are always looking for opportunities to exceed their expectations.
