Junk Gets in the Way

Working for the world’s largest junk removal company for the last month has really made me stop and think about a word I’ve never really paid attention to: Junk.

The connotation of this word is almost always negative. Take for example – junk food. We can classify junk food as food that has no health merit.  Or, at the very least, is too high in sugar and calories to be considered valuable to the human body. I think it’s safe to say that if you want to have a healthy diet; junk food gets in the way.

How about space junk?  Space junk is the collection of human-made objects that are in orbit around Earth, even though they no longer serve any purpose.  Approximately 11,000 pieces of space junk can be detected in orbit that are more than 3 inches big. It is said that once in space, the biggest threat to astronauts and spacecrafts is space junk.  Space junk definitely gets in the way.

Now, let’s talk about your junk. No doubt, the spotlight is bright on compulsive hoarding disorders. More and more people are coming out of the wood work admitting that they just can’t let go of their stuff.  But in the business of junk removal, we’re counting on our customers to make better choices.

Eat an apple instead of Cheetos.  Realize that our junk in orbit is a serious threat for space travel. And finally, clear some space for yourself because junk gets in the way!
